"Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don't have to
have a college degree to serve. You don't have to have to make your
subject and your verb agree to serve. You don't have to know about
Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don't have to know Einstein's "Theory
of Relativity" to serve. You don't have to know the Second Theory of
Thermal Dynamics in Physics to serve. You only need a heart full of
grace, a soul generated by love, and you can be that servant." (Martin Luther King Jr. - excerpt from "The Drum Major Instinct")
One way to motivate yourself onto greatness is to emulate those who are worth emulating. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those people who's words and actions always seemed to match up. He became a servant to make the world better (and arguably, to correct the world's faulty beliefs). He stood up to oppression and moved a country to action.
Thanks Dr. King for your life and testimony. I'm sorry being a servant cost you your life, but I'm overjoyed that the message of your life lives on.
